PVC shrink film is widely used for packaging beverages, food, cosmetics, and other consumer goods due to its excellent decorative, branding, and tamper-evident properties. Achieving clear, vibrant, and durable printing on these films requires specialized inks.
The solid thermoplastic acrylic resin used in PVC shrink film inks is highly favored for its strong adhesion to the PVC substrate, excellent clarity and gloss, and its ability to maintain flexibility during the shrinking process without cracking or flaking. Its stable viscosity, smooth printability, and rapid solvent release make thermoplastic acrylic resin suitable for high-speed gravure and screen printing. Furthermore, acrylic resin offers long-lasting resistance to heat, abrasion, and chemicals, while remaining non-yellowing and low-odor, ensuring clear, vibrant, and durable graphics—critical for packaging applications such as shrink sleeves and labels.
SA-206 is a high quality solid thermoplastic acrylic resin, primarily composed of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and n-butyl methacrylate (n-BMA) polymers. This oil based acrylic resin exhibits excellent color development, strong adhesion, and excellent weather resistance. Its high molecular weight (40,000 g/mole) ensures film strength and durability. Its high glass transition temperature (Tg: 75°C) enables the ink to maintain stable physical properties even in high-temperature environments. The formed film exhibits excellent resistance to gasoline and plasticizers, as well as sufficient hardness, enhancing the durability and chemical resistance of printed products. These factors significantly enhance the overall performance of inks specifically designed for PVC shrink film, making SA-206 an ideal choice for screen printing and gravure printing on PVC shrink films. Solid thermoplastic acrylic resin SA-206 can also be used as a varnish.
